Step Well Series # 4 -

Wankaner Palace

My fourth box in the Step Well Seriesis based on a much later example from a nineteenth century palace where it is more a sort of private cloistered cistern than a public step well. I tried to keep to the very graceful proportions of the space and the number of levels and arched bays, while changing other design and decorative features. The top of the box lift off and beneath are three stacked levels, each a tray, connected by stairways. The outer wood is figured cherry and the inner wood is English maple.
