The Danteum

From Hell one climbs another set of stairs and enters a large, airy room representing Purgatory (above left).

Its floor plan is based on the same golden ratio as Hell, but with the seven squares ascending, an arrangement that

the roof mirrors with seven open squares. One leaves this room by a narrow stairway that leads to the Paradise room

(above right), a light-filled space with thirty-three glass pillars supporting a glass roof. The journey is complete,

and finally, from this room a long narrow staircase leads back down to street level and the entrance to the building.
